About the Dutch Gouda farmer’s cheese shop Craxi in Malaga.

About Craxi Gouda farmer’s cheese.

Our Craxi cheese shop in beautiful Malaga is not the cheese shop you are used to with an assortment of cheeses from different countries.

In our cheese shop, you will ‘only’ find Craxi Gouda farmer’s cheese, this gouda cheese is still manually prepared on the cheese farm in the Netherlands according to a centuries-old tradition from raw cow’s milk that comes from our own cows.

Authentic raw-milk Gouda farmer’s cheese is still made on a small scale on cheese farms in the Netherlands and is recognised by the European Union as a guaranteed traditional speciality.

Gouda cheese (factory cheese) is well known all over the world, but a well-kept secret is that there is also the traditional Gouda farmer’s cheese!

The reason why this artisanal Gouda cheese with its rich, powerful, and unique taste is not known worldwide is that the vast majority of this high-quality cheese stays in the Netherlands.

In our cheese shop in the Mercado de Merced in Malaga we stock the following types of traditional Dutch Gouda cheese.

  • Artisan Gouda cheese matured for 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 24 and 36 months.
  • Artisan Gouda cheese with Cumin, Truffle, Red Pesto, Green Pesto, Italian herbs, Fenugreek, Garlic-Onion, Spicy Chili and Gouda cheese with Iberian herbs.
  • Artisan saltless Gouda cheese.

Drop by, there is plenty to taste and Cézanne and Lodewijk are happy to help you with a freshly cut piece of your favorite Gouda cheese.

What about transporting the cheese from the Netherlands to Spain?

To guarantee the quality of our Craxi cheese, we like to keep the whole process in “one” hand from start to finish.

What about the decision to choose Malaga to open a Craxi gouda farm cheese shop?

There are those who find the rain and cold like the weather in the Netherlands very cosy and snug, but let’s face it, it is lovely to be able to walk to work with the sun on your face.

I’ve lost my heart to this city. Malaga is a vibrant city with a positive atmosphere and a huge number of beautiful places. The Malagueños are very friendly and helpful people. When you add the great outdoor life, delicious food, and beautiful weather, you completely understand that Malaga is the perfect location to live and work.

The Spanish are known for their love of good and delicious food. It’s great to see their reaction when they try our cheese for the first time. You can tell they appreciate the taste of real cheese. It is surprising how many Dutch people (old and young) have settled in Malaga. Some visitors to our cheese shop have been living here for more than 30 years, but they all say that they have missed the real Gouda cheese.

If you are a lover of tasty cheese, there are plenty of reasons to also try our real gouda farmer’s cheese! Should you be near our Craxi cheese shop in Málaga, feel free to drop by. Come see and taste because this traditionally prepared Dutch piece of dairy is definitely worth tasting.

Excellent artisan cheeses! So far, my great favourite is the Iberian Herbs - sophisticated and subtle. The fenogreco is very delicatelyflavoured; while the cumin is a bit more robust, but also delicious.New on the scene are the artisan goat cheeses - scrumptious and very low in accidity. Varios flavours. Then you have the many degrees ofmaturation - I defy anyone not tofind a cheese to love!My very best wishes to the youngentrepreneurs, who couldn't bekinder or more pleasent.
